As someone who is a natural "connector," social networking is something I am incredibly fascinated with. Please check-out my profiles up on Facebook , LinkedIn and Twitter and feel free to connect with me on those sites if you use them too!
The internet is always evolving so it's very important to be up-to-date on what's available and how it can serve you and your business--especially if you do home-based work online.

I’ve been working from home for over ten years and I believe it’s very important that your work environment be conducive to working effectively. The right environment can really empower you to work at your full potential. The wrong environment will slow you down.
One of the benefits of working from home is that you have control over your own environment. No more cubicles! You’re the boss so make sure you make the best of it by following these tips.
• To start with you need to remove clutter. Clutter drains your energy. If you clear out the clutter you’ll instantly feel more enthusiastic and energetic. Then, create a system to manage clutter on a regular basis or it will be back in a matter of days.

One key thing I've learned over the years is how important it is (no matter what your own personal situation may be) to stay in a place of service. In challenging times, it's very easy to focus on our own individual needs. The gift is to start focusing instead on who you can serve. You'll be amazed at the shift in your energy AND the positive results.

I just finished recording my Wrap-Up call for the Metromom Online Success Telesummit where I shared my highlights. It’s been a fascinating two weeks as I interviewed 18 different internet marketing experts who shared tips on how to maximize your online presence. I think what I found the most interesting was how the expertise of the different speakers weaved together. In the end I discovered consistent references to what it takes to be successful in today’s economy. Let me share some of my highlights of the four online success principle I discovered:

I read a really interesting article in the New York Times entitled “Direct Sales as a Recession Fallback.” According to this article many direct sales companies report rising numbers of sellers signing up. The spokeswoman for the Direct Selling Association said that’s typical in recessionary years. Why?

In my last blog I spoke about the first step in creating a website that sells – figuring out your target audience and putting yourself in their shoes. Once you’ve done this homework you can use the next two steps to communicate effectively on your website.
Step Two – Develop a rapport.
The internet is impersonal by nature so there is an even greater need for rapport when you’re selling a product or service online. Here are a few suggestions that will help you establish that rapport with potential customers:

Do you know of any stay-at-home moms that are suddenly back in the job market? According to a recent article in Time magazine men make up 82% of the recession's job losses, which means a lot more women are looking for work to make up for the lost paycheck. The article in Time magazine explains a recent phenomenon – many white collar moms who opted out of the workforce to focus on their kids are suddenly scrambling to get back in.
The problem is there are not a lot of jobs to be found! I was in Dallas this last weekend with Tory Johnson at the Women for Hire expo. ( and I’ll be back again speaking at her expo in Atlanta on April 4th). What struck me most was how many women are searching. Searching not just for a job, but they’re searching for support as they face a transition from their life as a stay-at-home mom.

I highly recommend that you have your own website. It doesn't need to be expensive but it does need to establish a relationship with your visitor - right away. Don't be generic in your approach!
For example, I've noticed a lot of mom entrepreneurs who are in direct sales businesses have a "self-replicating" website. When I was just getting started with my direct sales company , I had a self-replicating website, but it was incredibly generic. Yes, it was a way to get in touch with me, but it wasn't a way for anybody to get to know me.
