Profitable Web 2.0 Solutions: How to Lure More Traffic to Your Website

You’ve got a great website up and running. You’ve lovingly put tremendous care into every detail. You’ve loaded it with great content.

But then you review your Google Analytics stats… How disappointing! You find that very few people are visiting, let alone buying from you. What are you doing wrong?

The answer is you haven’t done anything wrong. You just need to focus on capturing the attention of online visitors. They just don’t know you’re there yet. You’re going to have to start marketing yourself and your business.

For most entrepreneurs, marketing isn’t easy. So you want the effort you put into it to be effective. A top priority for online entrepreneurs is to get traffic for your website and capture the attention of visitors so you can then keep supplying them with information that's of value to them. This allows you to build solid (and profitable) relationships.

I’ve shared a few of my favorite techniques earlier. Here are some more suggestions of easy, inexpensive ways to lure more traffic to your website and grow your list:

  • Embed your links in your products. Sometimes people share your digital products with their friends. Sometimes they give away or sell pirated copies of your product. Either way, you can benefit from this if you include links to your squeeze page in your paid products.
  • Drive traffic to your landing page using videos. You can create YouTube.com videos for the sole purpose of driving traffic to your newsletter sign up page. To get the best results, include a call to action at the end of your video where you promise viewers they can get the second part of the video – for free – when they join your list.
  • Tap into Squidoo to get new subscribers. Create Squidoo.com pages around niche topics with the purpose of driving visitors to your landing page. In other words, all your Squidoo links should point to your squeeze page.
  • Use affiliate marketing and endorsements. As you discover great products and services, endorse them and ask for endorsements from them. You can post your endorsements on your respective blogs as well as in your newsletters and e-mail marketing campaigns. Example: If you want to learn how to build your list faster, check out what my friend Carrie Wilkerson can teach you with her Magnetic List Building course. I used it and learned a lot that helped me grow my list. Article marketing. First create a multi-part article series around a niche topic. Then upload Part 1 to the article directories (such as EzineArticles.com, GoArticles.com and IdeaMarketers.com) and upload the rest of the series to your autoresponder. Use your article byline to encourage people to get Part 2 of the article by clicking through to your squeeze page.
  • Form a newsletter co-op. Do a co-registration deal with one or more people in your niche. When someone new joins your partner’s newsletter, they also get the option of joining your newsletter at the same time (simply by checking a checkbox).

People need to see the great things you have to offer. So get out there and let them know you’re here. Marketing doesn’t have to be really involved, scary, or costly. With some creativity and ingenuity you can attract and hold the attention of those who visit your website.
