As an online entrepreneur, you probably have quite a few projects (or balls) in the air. It’s really important to get your ideas out of your head and organized into doable projects. However, once you’ve organized them and they’re ready to implement, does that mean you have to do all of it yourself?
Because entrepreneurs have such a do-it-yourself spirit, you might be trying to do just that. And in the process, are you finding that the “overwhelm” of tracking everything is raining down on your head?
To help you keep all of your projects in the air, I want to share with you some tools that will help you stay on track and moving forward. The first tool is…

As an entrepreneurs, don't you feel the pressure of doing it all? Throughout the day you’re called upon to assess, prioritize, track and direct multiple activities, make plans and decisions, and so much more. You’re putting a lot of time and energy into growing your business. Deadlines loom and your stress level rises.
At times like these the temptation is to multitask…
In theory it sounds great to multitask, but our brains are designed to deal with one thing at a time. Multi-tasking only slows the brain down, so all you end up with is stress and accomplishing much less than you potentially could. That’s not serving you as a busy entrepreneur.

Being disorganized manifests itself in many different ways. Maybe you’ve seen offices where every surface is covered with teetering stacks of papers and books. A few entrepreneurs seem to be able to function in that kind of chaos. However, most of us would just be wasting precious hours trying to find lost items and information.
The Business Section of the ‘Wall Street Journal’ (December 8, 2002) reported: “The average U.S. executive wastes SIX WEEKS PER YEAR searching for missing information on messy desks and in files. Every lost piece of paper costs a business $120. In fact, fifteen percent of all paper handled in businesses is lost and thirty percent of all employees’ time is spent trying to find lost documents.”
Being disorganized can also be going on inside of your head. Entrepreneurs may have tons of ideas and projects that you’d like to pursue. But if you don’t have a plan on how to accomplish them, you’re going to end up with little accomplished and a great deal of frustration and cost from redoing mistakes.
Building your business is like building a house. You can’t build the roof first. There’s a prescribed order of what needs to be done first so that it’s ready and stable for the next step. If entrepreneurs aren’t following the proper steps for building your business, you may suffer a terrible collapse because you don’t have the systems you need in place.

To run a successful business, an entrepreneur needs to have the workings behind the scenes go smoothly. This is especially true when you delegate to a team or work with a virtual assistant – she needs to know what to do and when to do it.
While it takes time and effort, it really pays off in business to document all the systems that you need so, if anything were to happen to any of you, someone new could come in and keep the ball rolling.
So what do I mean by system?

What is an entrepreneur’s biggest time vampire that sucks the life right out of your business? I know for me it’s checking my emails a million times a day. God forbid I should miss something. It’s crazy. There’s absolutely no good that comes from me doing that and in truth it’s a distraction that can easily cost me time and money.
How do all those people get your email address? It’s because you subscribed to their newsletters. You see something interesting, enter your information, and beep, there are 50 new emails in your inbox that you’ve just got to open to make sure you’re not missing out on any great learning.

Looking at my Get It Done U site today, you may not realize that when I started it over a year ago it was not pretty. I called it the band-aid site. I needed to have it up so that people who were taking my programs and classes could access the information in the member’s section.
It didn’t have the fun navigation or visual appeal but it was up. And, to tell you the truth, it killed me that people were being sent to this site that I didn’t love. But I had to just get over my perfectionism.
The important thing was that the site was up and generating revenue. I knew that when I had additional time and income to spend on it, I would make it the way that I wanted it. I had the vision very clear in my head but I just didn’t have the resources, time and/or money to make it happen. And then I did, so now what you’re seeing on the site is a reflection of that vision.

As entrepreneurs it’s painful when we’re not clear about what we’re doing. To me it feels like I’m floundering. When I’m not clear, and purposeful, I can waste a whole day on the computer doing “stuff” but not really accomplishing anything that matters in the big picture of what I care about.
It’s so easy to spin your wheels doing lots of “busy” work but actually go nowhere, fast.
If you’re not getting important projects done you don’t get your work out to the public that could benefit from it. You’re not getting paid for all that you’re worth. And you don’t feel that great about yourself or your business because you’re stuck instead of moving forward.
As we enter the New Year I encourage you to replace all that busy work with MEANINGFUL work. But you may wonder, “How do I figure out WHICH project(s) will create the best results?”

Maybe you shouldn’t get it done. Maybe there’s a good reason why you’re procrastinating… Shocking words I know coming from me, the “Get It Done Girl”.
There will be times when you have to listen to your inner voice when everyone around you is telling you something completely different. At times like these it’s very tempting to forego your intuition in favor of "proven" strategies and techniques from “experts.”
Don’t get me wrong, I advocate listening and learning from business and marketing experts and I work hard to apply what I’ve learned. However, there are times when I’m reading a marketing book, or at a class, or speaking with my coach and I’ll hear great advice but it’s not the best advice for me. It doesn’t feel right, so guess what? I end up procrastinating about the project.
When this happens, I force myself to slow down and tune into my intuition. I listen for my Kim-wisdom (which is always there when I’m quiet). Then I choose to create a new path for how I do things. I take in a lot of information from various sources (people, information products, books etc.) digest it, and synthesize it in a "Kim" way so that all I do has my personal stamp on it.
Women entrepreneurs have an advantage in that we’re usually fairly comfortable relying on our intuition. But when it comes to BUSINESS sometimes we let doubts creep in. My advice – always trust your instincts, even if you’re new to business. If you don’t feel authentic about a business decision, don’t dismiss the feeling. Take the time to make sure you’re truly aligned with your values, beliefs and goals before moving forward.
One of the things I teach in my program, the Get It Done Challenge, is that there are multiple paths to the same destination. Keep focused on your long-term vision and if one path isn’t working, try another one that feels right. By doing business on your own terms, you’ll be amazed at how the right people, places and opportunities appear – sometimes out of nowhere.

Most of the entrepreneurs I know and work with don’t have a shortage of ideas of things they want to accomplish in their business. BUT sometimes they get really stuck. They’ve got that great idea, but for various reasons they don’t act on that idea and then it stays just that, a great idea with no implementation.
When you don’t execute your great ideas a couple of things happen…
First, you don’t help the people that could benefit from what you’ve got to offer, then you don’t get paid for all that you’re worth and finally you’re left feeling frustrated because deep down you know the difference you could make if you brought that idea to fruition.

Toddlers love to say "no" to just about everything. For them it's sport. For us, as entrepreneurs, saying "no" is about survival.
To better protect your valuable time, I want to suggest some simple actions you can take to say “no” to time vampires and say “yes” to your life.
